Congratulations to our 2018 $1000 Scholarship winners: Jacob Murdoch and Lauren Palma.
Lauren Palma is an excellent student and has taken on various leadership and athletic roles while at Granada. Lauren has been a member of the Granada Varsity cheer team during her time at Granada. This year, she was also a member of our school’s first ever Stunt team as well. In Leadership, Lauren played an important role working with the other students involved in publicity. She could always be counted upon to go above and beyond. While the trials and tribulations of high school are not always easy, you’d never know that by looking at Lauren. She always has a smile on her face and is an incredibly positive person. Lauren will be attending Cal State East Bay in the fall. Congratulations Lauren!
Jacob Murdoch is also an excellent student. He has been a member of the Granada High Basketball program since becoming a Matador. His accomplishments on the court earned him a TV30 Athlete of the week award this year and helped Granada High reach the NCS playoffs. He served as team captain for the varsity basketball team and led the team in rebounds and was second in points scored. His efforts earned him EBAL all league honorable mention. While Jacob was never officially in the Leadership class or a class officer, you may not know that by the amount of time and effort he put into helping at school functions. He was always incredibly polite and helpful, which shows an example of his character. He plans on attending University of Oregon in the fall. Congratulations Jacob!
